A school built where it was needed most

In 1966, founder Chen Yao-huo turned away from the busy city of Pingtung and chose the quiet farming township of Kanding.

"If you are going to build a school," he told his teacher in Japan, "build it where no one else is willing to." That pioneering spirit still defines Nan Jung — a private school that has served its community for sixty years, now watched over by the founder's daughter, Chairperson Chen Chun-wan.

1966年、創立者・陳耀火先生は賑やかな屏東市ではなく、静かな農村・崁頂郷を選びました。

日本の恩師にこう語ったといいます。「学校をつくるなら、誰もやりたがらない場所でつくりなさい」。その開拓者の精神は今も南榮に息づいています。地域とともに歩んで60年、現在は創立者の令嬢・陳純婉理事長が学校を見守っています。

The first junior-high band to play at Taiwan's National Day, a seven-time national champion choir, and award-winning harmonica, dance and orchestra.台湾の国慶節で演奏した史上初の中学バンド、全国特優7度の合唱団、受賞多数のハーモニカ・舞踊・国楽。

Twenty-five years of friendship with Japan

Nan Jung's bond with Japan reaches back to the founder's own era.

Today the school is a sister school of Sakura Kokusai High School (さくら国際高等学校) — a friendship of more than twenty-five years, renewed each spring through music, homestays and shared culture. As the home of southern Taiwan's first English Village, Nan Jung opens the world to its students.

現在はさくら国際高等学校との姉妹校として、25年を超える友情を、毎春、音楽・ホームステイ・文化交流を通じて新たにしています。南台湾で初めての「英語村」を擁する南榮は、生徒たちに世界への扉を開いています。

For decades, the arts have been the heart of a Nan Jung education.

From its outdoor marching band to its harmonica ensemble, choir, dance troupe and Chinese orchestra, Nan Jung has earned national honors again and again. In 2026 its students won three national grand prizes at the All-Taiwan Music & Dance Competition.

In the Innovation Hub (2020), 3D printers and laser engravers turn ideas into objects students can hold. In the Digital Studio (2022), they become hosts, anchors and directors — and find the confidence to be seen.

創客（メイカー）センター（2020年）では、3Dプリンターやレーザー彫刻機がアイデアを手に取れる作品に変えます。デジタル・スタジオ（2022年）では、生徒が司会者・キャスター・ディレクターとなり、人前に立つ自信を育みます。
