On the evening of 10 June 2026, the school hall filled with families and friends for Nan Jung's eighth annual Harmonica Graduation Concert. Even under stormy skies, the audience came in number to hear a program spanning classical, folk and popular music — performed as solos, duets and full ensemble.
Nan Jung is the only junior high school in Pingtung County with its own harmonica ensemble, and it has long made the harmonica a centerpiece of its arts education, working closely with the Crazy Resonance Harmonica Band of Kaohsiung. Under composer-conductor Chen Sheng-yi and teacher Fan Hsiao-yi, its players have won national honors year after year — including, this year, a national grand prize in the harmonica quartet and a national distinction in ensemble at the 2026 All-Taiwan Student Music Competition.
This year the concert reached across the generations. Alongside the Nan Jung club, the school welcomed the harmonica club of neighboring Chaonan Elementary — seven young children whose duet “Clapping Song” and tremolo-harmonica solo “Crazy Buzzing Bee” drew warm applause — together with the Crazy Resonance Harmonica Band and graduate alumnus Huang Yi-jui. Both teachers not only conducted but took the stage to play beside their students, and two young members have now joined the Crazy Resonance band — proof of how deeply the music has taken root.
The graduating ninth-graders, who had set rehearsals aside for a time to sit the national exam, returned to perform the ensemble piece “Clapping Song” and the formidable “Queen's Eagle” — a sweeping, technically intricate work whose assured delivery set the hall alight and earned even Mr Chen's praise, a maturity rarely seen in past years.
As a noted harmonica composer and arranger, Chen Sheng-yi wrote or arranged many of the evening's pieces himself. The graduating class closed the night with the farewell song “This Summer,” its gentle melody speaking of youth and parting — a tender goodbye to three years of music and friendship, and a wish that every student would carry that love of music onto the stages of life still to come.
2026年6月10日の夜、南榮の講堂は卒業ハーモニカ演奏会を見にきた家族や友人でいっぱいになりました。あいにくの荒天にもかかわらず多くの来場者が集まり、クラシック・民謡・ポップスにわたる演目を、独奏・重奏・合奏で堪能しました。今年で第8回を迎えます。
南榮は屏東県で唯一、ハーモニカ団を擁する中学校であり、長年ハーモニカを芸術教育の柱に据え、高雄の「狂響口琴楽団」とも緊密に連携してきました。作曲家でもある陳晟禕先生と范曉怡先生の指導のもと、団員は毎年のように全国大会で実績を重ね、2026年の全国学生音楽コンクールではハーモニカ四重奏で全国特優、合奏で全国優等を獲得しました。
今年の演奏会は世代を越えた集いとなりました。南榮の団に加え、近隣の潮南国小ハーモニカ部の7人の子どもたちが重奏「拍手歌」と複音ハーモニカ独奏「狂響蜜蜂」を披露して温かな拍手を浴び、さらに狂響口琴楽団と卒業生の黄顗睿さんも共演しました。二人の先生は指揮をとるだけでなく生徒と同じ舞台で演奏し、若い団員2名が新たに狂響口琴楽団に加わるなど、音楽が深く根づいていることを示しました。
卒業を迎える9年生は、教育会考のため一時団練を離れていましたが、重奏「拍手歌」と高難度の「女皇の鵰」で舞台に戻りました。壮大で技巧を凝らしたこの曲を見事に奏で、会場を沸かせ、陳先生も惜しみない賛辞を送る、歴代でもまれな成熟した演奏でした。
高名なハーモニカの作曲家・編曲家でもある陳晟禕先生は、当夜の多くの曲をみずから作・編曲しました。卒業生は別れの曲「今年の夏」で夜を締めくくり、その優しい旋律は青春と別れを語りました。3年間の音楽と友情への温かな別れであり、これからの人生の舞台でも音楽への愛を抱き続けてほしいという願いが込められていました。
2026년 6월 10일 저녁, 난룽중학교 강당은 제8회 하모니카 졸업 연주회를 보러 온 가족과 친구들로 가득 찼습니다. 궂은 날씨에도 불구하고 많은 관객이 모여 클래식, 민요, 대중음악을 아우르는 독주, 이중주, 합주 무대를 감상했습니다.
난룽중학교는 핑둥현에서 유일하게 자체 하모니카 앙상블을 보유한 중학교로, 오랫동안 하모니카를 예술 교육의 중심으로 삼아 가오슝의 크레이지 레조넌스 하모니카 밴드와 긴밀히 협력해 왔습니다. 작곡가 겸 지휘자인 천성이 선생님과 판샤오이 선생님의 지도 아래, 단원들은 해마다 전국적인 영예를 안았으며, 올해는 2026년 전국 학생 음악 콩쿠르 하모니카 사중주 부문에서 전국 대상을, 합주 부문에서 전국 우수상을 수상했습니다.
올해 연주회는 세대를 아우르는 자리가 되었습니다. 난룽 동아리와 더불어 인근 차오난초등학교 하모니카부의 어린이 7명이 함께해, 이들이 선보인 이중주 “박수 노래”와 트레몰로 하모니카 독주 “붕붕거리는 미친 꿀벌”은 따뜻한 박수갈채를 받았습니다. 여기에 크레이지 레조넌스 하모니카 밴드와 졸업생 황이루이도 함께 무대를 꾸몄습니다. 두 선생님은 지휘뿐 아니라 직접 무대에 올라 제자들과 나란히 연주했으며, 어린 단원 두 명은 이번에 크레이지 레조넌스 밴드에 합류하기까지 했습니다. 음악이 얼마나 깊이 뿌리내렸는지를 보여주는 순간이었습니다.
국가 시험 준비를 위해 한동안 연습을 잠시 미뤄두었던 졸업반 9학년 학생들은 다시 무대로 돌아와 합주곡 “박수 노래”와 웅장하고 고난도의 기교가 요구되는 “여왕의 독수리”를 연주했습니다. 자신감 넘치는 연주로 강당을 뜨겁게 달구었고, 천성이 선생님으로부터도 찬사를 받았을 만큼 예년에 보기 드문 성숙함을 보여주었습니다.
저명한 하모니카 작곡가이자 편곡자이기도 한 천성이 선생님은 이날 연주된 많은 곡을 직접 작곡하거나 편곡했습니다. 졸업생들은 이별의 노래 “올여름”으로 밤을 마무리했으며, 부드러운 선율에 청춘과 이별의 마음을 담았습니다. 3년간의 음악과 우정에 건네는 다정한 작별 인사이자, 앞으로 펼쳐질 인생의 무대에서도 모든 학생이 음악을 향한 사랑을 간직하기를 바라는 마음이 담긴 무대였습니다.
