Landmarks That Tell a Story
In this exchange, an eighth grader from Russia introduced us sixth graders to her country's culture — its religion, traditional clothing, home cooking, and famous buildings. What impressed us most were the landmarks: the grand Kremlin, the towering Motherland Calls statue, the cliff-top Swallow's Nest castle, the elegant Catherine Palace, and the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces, now a museum.
Each building was not only beautiful to look at but full of history. Through her lively introduction, it felt as if we had set off on a journey through a faraway land.
