Taiwan's Precious Few
Today was a special day for Class 602. In an online exchange with a school in Israel on the theme of endangered animals, we introduced some of Taiwan's rarest creatures: the Formosan black bear, the grass owl, the leopard cat, and the Taiwan pangolin. Using simple English and pictures, we explained what they look like, where they live, and why they are in danger.
Animals We Had Never Met
The Israeli students were just as well prepared. They introduced endangered animals from their own country — the striped hyena, the lesser kestrel, the griffon vulture, the Arabian oryx, and the sea turtle. Many of these were completely new to us, and they sparked our curiosity about the natural world.
Beyond the new English words, we learned something bigger: protecting endangered animals is a responsibility we all share, everywhere in the world.
