A branch that grew into its own school — and grew a branch of its own.

Hulin Elementary began as a branch of Xiangshan Elementary School before becoming fully independent in 1958, making it one of the older schools in Xiangshan District. The school later did the same for a neighboring community: its own branch, Gangnan Elementary, split off to become independent in 1965. Today Hulin runs a dedicated Multiple Learning Center and an attached kindergarten, and its sports program centers on table tennis, track and field, and baseball.

🦪

Hulin Elementary is part of the historic network of schools descended from Xiangshan Elementary, the district's 1908 "mother school" founded through the private philanthropy of a local gentry family. That century-old lineage reflects Xiangshan's long-standing rural community roots, alongside its coastal Minnan fishing and oyster-farming heritage. See the Hsinchu City county page for more on the region.
