Siling Elementary sits high on the Bagua Mountain plateau in Nantou City, surrounded by orchards, woodland, and butterflies. Founded a full century ago, it is a small country school — just a few dozen children — but one with an unusually big heart and a remarkable cultural inheritance.
西嶺國小坐落在南投市的八卦山台地上，四周是果園、林地與翩翩飛舞的蝴蝶。創校至今滿一百年，雖然是一所只有數十名孩子的偏鄉小學，卻有著格外溫暖的心，以及一份難得的文化傳承。

Two proud teams give Siling its name far beyond the mountain: a lion-dance team that carries a century-old local tradition, and a kite team housed in Taiwan's only elementary-school kite museum.

Founded in 2016, our team carries on the century-old local "Tongyi Hall Golden Lion" troupe — the eight moods of joy, anger, sorrow, and surprise. County champions in the Southern-Lion category, they have performed in Kasahara, Japan and at the Nantou Lantern Festival.
Siling is home to the only kite exhibition hall inside an elementary school in Taiwan, opened in 2002. Making a kite fly takes science, art, craft, terrain, weather, and teamwork — a whole curriculum on a single string.
On the green Bagua plateau, our butterfly garden turns the schoolyard into a living classroom, where children learn to observe, care for, and wonder at the natural world around them.
