Named for a famous railway junction.
Zhuifen Elementary was established in 1919, during the Japanese colonial era, as 社腳分教場, before being renamed 追分公學校 in 1926. Over 90 years of history later, it remains closely tied to adjacent Zhuifen Station — the historic junction where the Taiwan Railway's mountain and coastal lines split, and the source of the school's Japanese-derived name meaning "fork" or "junction."
