Zhongtai Elementary School was founded in 1956 as a branch of Tunshan Elementary School, serving families living at the foot of Datun Mountain near the boundary with Sanzhi District. Its small size and rural setting have kept it closely tied to the surrounding farming community in Tamsui's northeastern hill country.
