Zhongping Junior High School was approved for planning in 1988 and opened in 1993 as the sixth junior high built in Xinzhuang, reflecting the surge in school-age children as the district urbanized rapidly through the 1980s and 90s. In 2005 it launched the "Hefeng Music" (荷風樂音) program, the first dedicated music class anywhere in the greater Xinzhuang area, and the school maintains sister-school relationships with a school in Dorset, England, and an agricultural high school in Tokyo.
中平國中於民國77年（1988年）獲准籌設，民國82年（1993年）正式招生，是新莊都市化快速發展下設立的第六所國中。民國94年（2005年）成立「荷風樂音」音樂班，為大新莊地區第一個音樂班；學校並與英國多塞特（Dorset）及日本東京一所農業高中締結姊妹校關係。
