Zhitan Elementary School

Zhitan Elementary opened as a branch school in 1961, growing out of an earlier 1959 branch program. It remains a small school of around six classes today. Enrollment once dropped sharply after the adjacent Zhitan Water Purification Plant was built, reshaping the local community, but numbers later recovered as new residential development spread across the river. The school sits in the scenic Zhitan area along the upper Xindian River, an area closely tied to the region's water-supply infrastructure and reservoir landscape.

直潭國小於民國50年（1961年）設立為分校，源自民國48年（1959年）的分班計畫，至今仍是約六個班級的小型學校。校方鄰近的直潭淨水場興建後，一度使招生人數大幅下降，其後隨著溪對岸社區的發展而逐漸回升。學校座落於新店溪上游風景優美的直潭地區，與當地供水設施及水庫景觀密切相關。
