Founded to ease a crowded district.
Yulin Junior High was established in 1995 to relieve overcrowding after neighboring Shulin Junior High converted into a complete secondary school. Its founding created a clear north-south divide across Shulin's school-zoning map: schools north of the railway line feed into Yulin Junior High, while those to the south feed into Shulin Senior High's junior division.

Divided by the tracks.
Shulin's rail line has long shaped daily life and school zoning in the district — Yulin Junior High's own founding was a direct response to that geography, formalizing which side of the tracks each neighborhood's students would attend. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
