Yuandong Elementary School

Yuandong Elementary was established on August 1, 1963, because its school zone was too far from the existing Dongshan and Yuanlin elementary schools for young children to commute easily. It opened with six classes covering grades 1 through 3, transferred from Dongshan and Yuanlin Elementary Schools, with first principal Chen Nengtong arriving on September 18, 1963. The campus was completed and the school became independent on March 1, 1964, at a ceremony presided over by then–Provincial Assembly Speaker Hsieh Tung-min and the county magistrate. In recent years, the school won a Golden Pin Design Award for its "Community Shared Reading Station" (社區共讀站).

員東國小創立於民國52年（1963年）8月1日，設校原因是原有學區距離東山、員林兩所國小過遠，年幼學童通學不便。創校初期設有一至三年級共6班，學生由東山國小與員林國小轉入，首任校長陳能通於民國52年9月18日到任。民國53年（1964年）3月1日校舍完工並舉行獨立設校典禮，由時任臺灣省議會議長謝東閔與縣長共同主持。近年來，該校更以「社區共讀站」設計獲得金點設計獎肯定。
