The oldest school in Yonghe.
Yonghe Elementary traces back to 1922 as a branch of Zhanghe Public School known as Xizhou 溪洲分教場, becoming independent in 1927 as Xizhou Public School. It is the oldest school in Yonghe District, having been renamed repeatedly over the decades as the area's administrative status changed — from rural sub-district, to independent town, to city, and finally to a district of New Taipei.

The school's many name changes over the decades track Yonghe's own shifting administrative status, from rural sub-district to independent city district.
🌊 Roots Along the Xindian River
Its original name, Xizhou (溪洲) — meaning 'river sandbar' — reflects the school's origins in a riverside farming hamlet along the Xindian River.
A name that changed as the district grew.
The school's many renamings trace Yonghe's own administrative evolution, from a rural sub-district of Zhonghe into an independent town, then city, then a district of New Taipei. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
