Xuguang Elementary School formed in 1957 from the merger of branch classes that had been operating since 1954. Six decades later, in 2017, the school relocated to a new campus within the Taichung High Speed Rail land-readjustment zone, directly reflecting the sweeping redevelopment of Wuri District since the HSR station opened in 2006.
旭光國小創立於民國46年（1957年），由自民國43年（1954年）起營運的分班合併而成。六十年後的民國106年（2017年），學校遷至台中高鐵特定區內的新校舍，直接反映了自2006年高鐵通車以來烏日區的全面發展。
