Xiyuan Senior High School opened in 1970 as "Taichung Municipal 13th Junior High School," becoming a complete school with both junior and senior high divisions in 1999 and adopting its current name in 2001. Today it enrolls roughly 2,700 students across 83 classes on a four-hectare campus, making it one of the larger secondary schools in Xitun District.
西苑高中前身為民國59年(1970年)創立的「臺中市立第十三國民中學」,民國88年(1999年)增設高中部成為完全中學,並於民國90年(2001年)更名為現名。目前全校約有2,700名學生、83個班級,校地達四公頃,是西屯區規模較大的中學之一。
