Once the largest elementary school on Earth.

Xiulang Elementary was founded in 1976. Its enrollment exploded through the 1980s as Yonghe became one of Taiwan's most densely populated townships, and the school peaked at over 11,000 to 11,300 students in 1986–87 — briefly holding a Guinness World Record as the world's largest elementary school, and drawing a Japanese television crew to film a documentary about it.
