Xingnan Elementary was established in 1955 and named to honor local benefactor Hong Wo-hsing, who donated timber for the school's original construction. Today the school pairs that community-minded history with a forward-looking curriculum, offering CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) bilingual instruction, reader's theater, Go (weiqi) chess, and courses in 3D printing and laser engraving.
