Named for a temple, known for its bat.
Xinggu Elementary opened on August 1, 1969, taking over the vacated campus of a middle school that had relocated elsewhere. It sits directly in front of Xianse Temple (先嗇宮), one of Sanchong's major temples honoring Shennong, the God of Agriculture — a location that directly inspired the school's name, "Xinggu" (興穀), meaning "flourishing five grains." Despite being one of the smallest elementary schools in Sanchong, with just 255 students across 14 classes as of 2015, Xinggu has built an outsized reputation as a baseball powerhouse, producing several professional players and winning a national Little League championship in 2008. The school also maintains a small local-history museum.
