Xindian Elementary is the founding, flagship school of the district that shares its name — opening in 1898 as the "Xindian Branch of the Taipei Mandarin Training Institute," one of the earliest modern schools established in the area under Japanese rule. It went through several renamings over the following seven decades before settling on its current name in 1968. The school anchors the historic town center on Xindian Road, near the riverside settlement from which the entire district takes its name.
新店國小是與新店區同名的創始旗艦國小，創立於1898年（日治時期），前身為「臺北國語傳習所新店分教場」，是當地最早設立的新式學校之一。其後七十年間歷經多次更名，直到民國57年（1968年）才定名為現今的新店國小。學校座落於新店路，位於新店老城中心，緊鄰賦予整個新店區地名由來的溪畔聚落。
