Wenxing Elementary was established in 1962 when it separated from Wenchang Elementary, one of Xiluo's oldest and officially recognized "century-old" schools. Since then, Wenxing has grown into its own institution, serving families in the urban core of Xiluo Town — a role distinct from, but historically linked to, its older sister school.
文興國小成立於民國51年（1962年），自西螺鎮歷史最悠久、官方認定「百年老校」之一的文昌國小分出獨立設校。自此，文興國小逐漸發展出自身的特色，服務西螺鎮市區核心的家庭，與這所歷史悠久的姊妹校在校史上緊密相連，卻各自扮演著不同的角色。
