學校創立於昭和13年（1938年），前身為「西螺商業專修學校」，民國32年（1943年）轉型為農業導向，因應戰時經濟對農業與食品加工人力的需求。民國89年（2000年）升格為國立學校，如今設有九個科別，學生人數約1,284至1,520人，是雲林縣規模最大、歷史最悠久的職業學校之一。
