Xiangshan Senior High was established in 1956 as a branch of Hsinchu County First Middle School, becoming an independent school, "Hsiang Shan Junior High School," in 1961. In 1998, the school added a senior high division, becoming a complete junior-senior high school, and adopted its current name in 2001. Since 2006, Xiangshan has built a strong reputation for its athletic teams, particularly in rugby, handball, table tennis, and archery.
香山高中創立於民國45年（1956年），前身為新竹縣立第一中學的分部，民國50年（1961年）獨立設校，命名為「香山國民中學」。民國87年（1998年），學校增設高中部，成為完全中學，並於民國90年（2001年）定名為現名。自民國95年（2006年）起，香山在橄欖球、手球、桌球、射箭等運動項目上建立起堅強的競賽實力與聲譽。
