Zhongyuan Elementary opened in 2002 to relieve overcrowding at nearby Sanxia Elementary School amid rapid population growth in the area. The school has since built a flagship "green energy education" program, featuring solar photovoltaic panels, a dedicated energy classroom, rainwater recycling systems, and a smart grid — earning it a national outstanding green-energy school award in 2010.
中園國小創立於民國91年（2002年），是為紓解鄰近三峽國小因當地人口快速成長而產生的就學壓力所設立。學校發展出「綠能教育」特色課程，設有太陽能光電板、能源教室、雨水回收系統及智慧電網，並於民國99年（2010年）榮獲全國績優綠色能源學校獎項。
