Zhongshan Junior High School was established in 1981, named in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (孫中山). Its original campus, at No. 233, Sec. 1, Zhongshan Rd., is today the site of the New Taipei City Government building. The school relocated in 1997 to a former Zhongxiao Elementary School site, then moved again in 1999 to its permanent campus — built on the site of a former CPC (state oil company) fuel depot.
中山國中創立於民國70年（1981年），為紀念孫中山先生而命名。原校址位於中山路一段233號，現址已成為新北市政府大樓。學校於民國86年（1997年）遷至原忠孝國小校地，民國88年（1999年）再遷至現今的永久校區——原為中油油庫用地。
