A school built by its own community.
Yuying Elementary School was founded in August 1955 as the "Linzi Branch" of Tamsui Elementary School, established through grassroots fundraising led by the village chiefs and local gentry of Peidao and Kanding villages. Its community-driven origin reflects how rural Tamsui neighborhoods in the mid-20th century organized themselves to bring schooling closer to home rather than relying on distant town schools.

🤝 Founded by Village Leaders
里長仕紳集資創校
Yuying's founding was driven by fundraising among the village chiefs and gentry of Peidao and Kanding, a grassroots effort rather than a top-down government project.
🌾 Serving Rural Farming Communities
服務農村社區
The school continues to serve the small farming communities of Peidao and Kanding villages, on the rural fringe of Tamsui District.
🏫 Once a Branch, Now Independent
源自林子分校
Yuying began life as the "Linzi Branch" of Tamsui Elementary School before becoming an independent institution.
A community that built its own school.
Like several other small Tamsui schools, Yuying's founding by local village leaders reflects a mid-20th-century pattern of rural communities self-organizing to establish neighborhood schools rather than waiting on distant municipal planning. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
