Yifang Elementary was established on August 1, 1980, making it one of the newer schools in this part of Ruifang, compared to its century-old neighbors. Like nearby Guashan Elementary, it serves families in the Jinguashi gold-mining basin, an area now also home to the Gold Ecological Park museum that preserves the region's mining heritage.
義方國小創立於民國69年（1980年）8月1日，相較於周邊的百年老校，是瑞芳這一帶較新設立的學校。學校與鄰近的瓜山國小一樣，服務金瓜石金礦盆地的居民，該地區如今也是保存礦業文化的黃金博物館園區所在地。
