Xinshi Elementary School opened on July 25, 2008, as the first municipal elementary school built specifically to serve the Tamsui New Town (淡海新市鎮) development, a government-planned reclamation project reshaping the coastal plain west of old Tamsui. The school's construction earned a Public Construction Golden Quality Award, and it now enrolls roughly 570 students across about 18 classes.
新市國小於民國97年(2008年)7月25日創校,是為淡海新市鎮開發案興建的第一所市立小學,服務這項重塑淡水舊城區以西海岸平原的政府造鎮計畫。學校興建工程曾獲「公共工程金質獎」,目前約有18班、570名學生。
