Sanguang Elementary School was established on April 1, 1951, splitting off from Sanchong National School to serve the riverside community near the Tamsui River and Zhongxiao Bridge. Its compact campus of about 1.87 hectares has, since the 2021 school year, been designated a Bilingual Pioneer School (雙語領航學校) — one of a select group of New Taipei elementary schools leading the district's bilingual education efforts. Alongside its bilingual programming, the school has also built distinctive fencing and saxophone programs for its students.
三光國小創立於民國40年（1951年）4月1日，由三重國民學校分設而出，服務基隆河與忠孝橋畔的社區。校地面積約1.87公頃，屬小型校園，自民國110學年度（2021年）起獲指定為「雙語領航學校」——新北市推動雙語教育的示範學校之一。除雙語課程外，學校也發展出擊劍與薩克斯風等特色社團。
