Houpu Elementary opened on 1 September 1958 as a branch campus of Banqiao Elementary School, part of the wave of new schools that spun off from the district's original school as its population grew. It has since been officially designated a wind-band experimental school, with a music program that has produced more than 31 graduating cohorts, and was recently certified as a "ViewSonic Future School" for AI and digital learning.
