A remote school deep in the hills.
Guishan Elementary began in 1954 as a branch class of Quchi Elementary, becoming an independent school in 1960. It remains a small, remote school today, set deep in Xindian's Guishan ("Turtle Mountain") area along the Xinwu Road corridor toward Wulai — part of the district's forested upper-river hinterland.

Deep in the forested hinterland.
Guishan Elementary sits in one of Xindian's most remote corners, the forested Turtle Mountain (龜山) area along the road to Wulai — a reminder of how much of the district remains mountainous hinterland beyond its riverside town center. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
