Guanghua Elementary School was planned starting in 1986 and began enrolling students in 1989 as the tenth elementary school built in Xinzhuang, established specifically to relieve overcrowding at neighboring Min'an Elementary School. Growth was rapid: by its 30th anniversary in 2017, the school had expanded to about 130 regular classes and roughly 3,600 students, making it one of the largest elementary campuses in the district.
光華國小自民國75年（1986年）起規劃，民國78年（1989年）正式招生，是新莊第十所國小，設立目的是紓解鄰近民安國小的過度擁擠問題。學校成長迅速，至民國106年（2017年）三十週年校慶時，全校已擴增至約130個一般班、學生數約3,600人，成為新莊規模最大的國小之一。
