A school born from a neighborhood's generosity.
Baozhang Elementary School began in 1963 as a branch campus of neighboring Zhang'an Elementary School, established on land donated by residents of the local community, and became fully independent in 1969. The school completed a new campus in 2014 and, in 2017, was recognized as reportedly Asia's first public elementary school to earn "Lighthouse School" status, reflecting its strong character-education program built around the "Seven Habits" framework. Its grassroots founding through private land donation illustrates a pattern common to many mid-century Taiwanese branch schools.
