A school founded to shorten a muddy walk.
Zhongzheng Elementary was founded in 1956 at the initiative of Wuqi's township head, who wanted to spare children from four rural villages a long, muddy walk to reach Wuqi Elementary School in the town center. Today, alongside its regular curriculum, the school runs a bilingual-arts program for its students.
中正國小創立於民國45年(1956年),係梧棲鄉長為讓四個偏遠村落的孩童免於跋涉泥濘道路至市區梧棲國小就讀而倡議設立。學校現今除一般課程外,亦推動雙語藝術課程。
What makes this school worth knowing.
🚸 Founded to Spare a Muddy Walk
免於跋涉泥濘之路而設校
The township head championed the school's founding in 1956 so children from four outlying villages would no longer have to walk an unpaved road into Wuqi's town center.
🎨 A Bilingual-Arts Curriculum
雙語藝術課程
Alongside its regular classes, Zhongzheng runs a bilingual-arts curriculum, folding English-language learning into creative subjects.
🌾 Serving Four Rural Villages
服務四個村落
The school continues to serve the families of the four outlying villages whose children's long commute first prompted its founding.
A story written in unpaved roads.
Zhongzheng's founding story is a direct artifact of pre-harbor Wuqi's agrarian geography — a landscape of unpaved village roads that once isolated farming hamlets from the town center. See the Taichung County page for more on the region.
