Wenhua Senior High School opened in 1989 as a provincial high school, later becoming a national school in 2000 and a Taichung municipal school in 2017. Originally founded as a girls' school, it went co-ed starting with its second cohort of students. Today the school enrolls around 2,000 students and is recognized as one of the "Taichung Big Five" — the city's most competitive public senior high schools — running dedicated humanities-gifted and math/science-gifted classes alongside a dance talent track.
文華高中創立於民國78年（1989年），初為省立高中，民國89年（2000年）改為國立，民國106年（2017年）改隸臺中市立。學校創校之初為女子高中，自第二屆起開始招收男學生。目前全校約有2,000名學生，是台中市公認的「明星高中五虎」之一，開設人文資優班與數理資優班，並設有舞蹈班。
