From a community study hall to a mother school.
Tunshan Elementary School was preceded by an informal local school known as "Datun Study Hall" before opening in 1952 as a branch of Xingren Elementary School, becoming fully independent in 1954. Its name honors Datun Mountain, the volcanic peak that dominates Tamsui's rural north, and the school serves the surrounding Tunshan area near the border with Sanzhi District.
屯山國小前身為地方「大屯講習所」,於民國41年(1952年)以興仁國小分校形式創立,民國43年(1954年)獨立設校。校名取自淡水北部山區的地標——大屯山,服務鄰近三芝區交界的屯山地區學童。

📖 From Study Hall to School
從講習所到學校
Tunshan's roots trace to an informal community study hall, "Datun Study Hall," before it became a formal branch and then an independent school.
🏫 A Mother School to Others
母校地位
Tunshan itself was a branch of Xingren Elementary School before independence, part of a chain of small Tamsui hill schools that grew from larger institutions.
Named for the mountain overhead.
Tunshan takes its name directly from Datun Mountain, the volcanic massif that defines the rugged, sparsely populated northern reaches of Tamsui District near Sanzhi. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
