Tunghai University was founded in 1955 (ROC 44), becoming Taiwan's first private university. Its campus is a designated cultural heritage site and the largest private university campus by land area in Taiwan, famous for the Luce Chapel — a landmark of modern architecture designed by I.M. Pei and Chen Chi-kwan. Today Tunghai spans 9 colleges and 34 departments, serving roughly 16,000 students.
東海大學創立於民國44年（1955年），是台灣第一所私立大學。校園被列為文化資產，也是全台佔地最大的私立大學校園，以貝聿銘與陳其寬設計的路思義教堂聞名，堪稱現代建築地標。現今東海大學設有九大學院、三十四個學系，學生約16,000人。
