Zhongxin Elementary School began in 1955 as "忠信分班," a branch classroom of neighboring Zhongxiao Elementary School, one of Taichung's oldest schools. It became fully independent in 1957. The campus sits within West District's established arts corridor, surrounded by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the historic Taichung Butokuden, the Dadun Cultural Center, and the National Public Information Library.
忠信國小的前身為民國44年(1955年)設立的「忠信分班」,隸屬於台中歷史最悠久的學校之一忠孝國小,民國46年(1957年)正式獨立設校。校址座落於西區成熟的藝文廊帶內,鄰近國立臺灣美術館、台中市武德殿、大墩文化中心與國立公共資訊圖書館。
