Xinyi Elementary School

Xinyi Elementary began in 1979 as a branch of Heping Elementary School and became independent in 1982. It was established because South District's rapid postwar growth had left children in the Yongxing and Heping villages facing a long walk to the nearest school. Its name, "Xinyi" ("righteousness"), was chosen specifically to complete Taichung's set of elementary schools named for the traditional "Eight Virtues" — a naming scheme that had been missing this particular value until the school opened.

信義國民小學於民國68年（1979年）以和平國小分校形式創立，民國71年（1982年）獨立設校。學校的設立起因於南區戰後快速發展，導致永興、和平等里的學童必須長途步行上學。校名「信義」的選定，正是為了補齊台中市以傳統「八德」命名國小系列中原本缺少的一環。
