Ruifeng Elementary began as a branch school in 1966 and became independent in 1967. It was founded so children from the Ruijing and Zhegao villages wouldn't have to make the long trek to Longfeng Elementary School in neighboring Longjing. In its earliest days, local gentry personally funded and housed the school before any building existed — its very first classroom was a borrowed cattle shed.
瑞峰國小前身於民國55年（1966年）設立分校，民國56年（1967年）獨立設校。創校目的是讓瑞井、蔗篙兩里的孩童不必長途跋涉至鄰近龍井的龍峰國小就讀。創校初期，在校舍落成前，是由地方仕紳出資出力並提供場地，首間教室甚至是借用的牛舍。
