Qingshui Elementary was founded in 1897, relocating to its present site in 1935, and today holds the distinction of being the first school campus in Taiwan to be designated a historic monument by Taichung City while still functioning as an operating school. The campus occupies the site of Qingshui's original Japanese-era school buildings, making it a living monument to the town's transformation from the Qing-dynasty settlement of Niumatou into modern Qingshui.
清水國小創立於1897年，於民國24年（1935年）遷至現址，如今是全台第一所在仍持續辦學的狀態下，被台中市政府列為古蹟的校園。學校座落於清水日治時期原始校舍的所在地，見證了這座城鎮從清代「牛罵頭」聚落轉變為今日清水的歷史軌跡，堪稱一座「活的古蹟」。
