From a temple hall to a school of its own.
Pinglin Elementary School traces its beginnings to 1952, when classes were first held by borrowing space in the Pinglin Village assembly hall — a site now occupied by Yulin Temple. It operated as a branch of Taiping Elementary School before becoming independent in 1965. The school takes its name from Pinglin Village, one of Taiping District's outlying farming communities that was gradually absorbed into the area's expanding school district system.
