From mountain branch to independent school.
Longshan Elementary began in 1960 as a single-classroom branch school before becoming fully independent in 1968. The school sits in Shanjiao Village — whose name literally means "Foot of the Mountain" — on the edge of the Dadu Plateau, reflecting the gradual suburbanization of Longjing District's upland areas as families settled the hillside communities above the coastal plain.
