From orchards to classrooms.
Jianxing Elementary began in 1957 as a branch campus of the century-old Duxing Elementary School, becoming its own school in 1959 as North District's population rapidly expanded in the postwar years. Before construction, the campus site was covered in bamboo groves and lychee orchards — a rural landscape that has since given way to one of North District's busy residential neighborhoods.

Jianxing's founding illustrates North District's rapid postwar population growth, which required splitting new schools off from established ones.
From farmland to neighborhood.
Jianxing Elementary's origins as a branch of the century-old Duxing Elementary School, built on former bamboo groves and lychee orchards, trace the transformation of North District from a rural, agricultural fringe into a dense residential neighborhood over the course of the 20th century. See the Taichung county page for more on the region.
