From one of two original schools to an international outlook.
Guoguang Elementary began in 1951 as a branch of Datong Elementary School and became independent in 1953. Along with Heping Elementary, it was one of only two elementary schools originally serving South District before the area's population boom of the 1980s through 2000s. More than 70 years on, the school runs a Taiwan-Malaysia cultural exchange program and fields a soft-tennis team with an international competition record.
