Built for a growing farming town.
Dongxin Junior High opened its doors in 1968, one year after its 1967 founding, as Dongshi's population of Hakka farming and orchard families grew through the 1960s and the town needed more secondary-school capacity. It was one of three junior high schools built in Dongshi during this period. In recent years, the school has developed a STEM and robotics focus, including hosting a Foxconn-sponsored AI robot workshop for its eighth-grade students.
