Born from the rubble, built for the future.
Dongxin Elementary was established in 2000 as the "Zhongshan Experimental Kindergarten School," built on the site freed up after the 1999 921 earthquake destroyed Zhongshan Elementary School. It was renamed Dongxin Elementary in 2003 and became one of the pioneers of Taiwan's early "kindergarten-first-grade unified" school model, quite literally a school born from the town's earthquake-recovery effort.
