Dongshi Elementary is the oldest school in the entire Dongshi area, founded in 1898 under Japanese rule as a branch teaching post of the Taichung Mandarin Training Institute, established at Dongshi's Taian Temple. More than 125 years later, the school runs an arts-talent program in strings and piano that has produced national competition winners, continuing a long tradition as the founding educational institution of the district.
東勢國民小學是整個東勢地區最古老的學校,創立於1898年日治時期,最初為「臺中國語傳習所東勢角分教場」,設於東勢泰安宮內。建校逾125年後的今天,學校開設弦樂與鋼琴藝術才能班,屢屢在全國競賽中獲獎,延續其作為東勢地區創始教育機構的悠久傳統。
