Founded inside a Confucian academy.
Dadu Elementary first held classes in 1899 inside the Wenchang shrine of Huangxi Academy (磺溪書院), a Qing-dynasty Confucian academy — making it Dadu District's oldest school. It relocated twice before finally settling on donated land in 1938, and has since been designated a national "Leadership Lighthouse School," recognizing it among Taiwan's model schools.
