Daan Junior High School opened in 1968 on a campus bordered by rice paddies on three sides, with a view out to the Taiwan Strait. Since 2007, it has maintained a sister-school relationship with Taipei Municipal Daan Junior High School — two schools sharing a name but very different settings, one coastal and rural, the other urban.
