Chenggong Junior High was established in 1981 to serve a densely populated area spanning the Tucheng, Renhua, Jincheng, and Ruicheng villages of Dali. In its earliest days, the school held classes on borrowed space at nearby Tucheng Elementary School — tying it to one of Dali's oldest Han-Chinese farming communities. Notable alumni include national-record shot-put athlete Zhang Ming-huang.
成功國中創立於民國70年（1981年），服務大里區內人口密集的塗城、仁化、金城、瑞城等里。創校初期曾借用塗城國小場地上課，塗城為大里最古老的漢人農墾聚落之一。知名校友包括全國鉛球紀錄保持人張銘煌。
